  BIOGRAPHY  

 

In the season 2024/25 Wilfried Staber made his debut as MARKE in “Tristan und Isolde” at the Münster Theatre.
In spring 2024 he enjoyed great success as GURNEMANZ in Wagner’s “Parsifal” in a guest engagement at the Ulm Theatre.
Since the season 2009/10 Kammersänger Wilfried Staber is a member of the Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra ensemble, where he can be seen in such roles as OSMIN in Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, DON ALFONSO in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”, KOTSCHUBEJ in Tschaikowsky’s “Mazeppa”, DALAND in Wagner’s “Der fliegende Holländer”, AQUARIUS in Dvorak’s “Rusalka” or the COUNT in Wagner’s “Tannhäuser”.

From 2007 to 2009 he wa engaged at the Cologne Opera, where he portrayed ROCCO in Beethoven’s “Fidelio”, BACULUS in Lortzing’s “Der Wildschütz” or SARASTRO in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”.

Wilfried Staber studied singing at the Graz Music Conservatory and completed his studies at the Munich Music and Theatre Academy with Josef Loibl, obtaining his diploma with distinction. He was a scholarship holder of the German Stage Association and the Kaminsky Foundation. He also was a finalist at the 4th International Wagner Vocal Contest in Bayreuth and Prize Winner of the Francisco Viñas Wettbewerb.

Further guest engagements brought him to the Bregenz Festival, the Thurn- and Taxis Festival, to Regensburg, the Andechs Festival, to the Prinzregententheater Munich and to Graz, Kapstadt, Aachen, Bremen, Bielefeld, Mannheim and Kaiserslautern.
