Niederbayerische Landestheater Passau - Lulu - LULU |
The real sensation of the performance however was the cast of the title role. Ecstatically, Alwa sings of Lulu’s “ big childlike eyes”. The Brazilian coloratura soprano Natasha Sallès actually does have those childlike eyes. And not just that. Visually, she is just the perfect Lulu with her page-boy haircut and her wiry body. Whether sex object or innocent lamb, whether half-naked or in altering identities – Sall´s always makes a bella figura. Especially vocally she leaves nothing to be desired. Effortlessly, her crystal-clear soprano voice rises to stratospheric heights. A phenomenal role debut – surely we will hear much more of Natasha Sallès. |

Protagonist Natasha Sallès, coloratura soprano from Brazil, who has a permanent engagement at the Freiburg Theatre, as Lulu retains her lean, pure, controlled intonation. In Berg’s insanely heights she changes into a thrilling falsetto, without any shrill tone in the almost 3 hours lasting opera. |

With Natasha Sallès in the title part, the theatre has found the ideal Lulu. The Brazilian soprano, who is a member of the Freiburg Theatre, made her fulminant role debut as Lulu. She plays a girlish Lulu. With her strong coloraturas, the singer surpasses herself. Her soprano voice is crystal-clear and her play extremely intense. From the first second on, to the very end her stage presence is fascinating. Enchantingly beautiful her cantilenas. |
