The baritone Ivan Oreščanin is one of the most valued members of the ensemble of the Opera House Graz. Versatile singer, he regularly appears here on stage with a wide repertoire, including Mozart‘s DON GIOVANNI, CONTE ALMAVIVA in „Le nozze di Figaro“, PAPAGENO or NARDO in „La finta giardiniera“, belcanto parts such as BELCORE in „L’elisir d’amore“or ENRICO in „Lucia di Lammermoor“, in the French repertoire LESCAUT in Massenet’s „Manon“, VALENTIN in „Faust“ or DANCAIRO in „Carmen“.
His broad repertoire goes from MARCELLO and SCHAUNARD in Puccini’s „La Bohème“ to PING in “Turandot”. In German operas he performed BITEROLF in „Tannhäuser“, CONRAD NACHTIGAL in „Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg“ and PETER in „Hänsel und Gretel“. He could also been seen and heard as SILVIO in “I Paggliaci”, RUGGIERO in „Alcina“, DEMETRIUS in „A midsummer night’s dream“, JELETSKI in „Pique Dame“, PANTALONE in „The Love For Three Oranges“ , FREMDE in „Gasparone“ or as SPARBÜCHSEN BILL in Bieito’s production of „Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny“.
Ivan Orascanin could also be seen in numerous operetta roles, highlighting his DR. FALKE in „Die Fledermaus“, GRAF DANILO in „Die lustige Witwe“, the STRANGER in „Gasparone“, AGAMEMNON in „La belle Hélène“ or PAPPACODA in „Eine Nacht in Venedig“. With this very role he also earned huge success at the Aalto Theatre Essen.

Moreover, recent appearances include FRITZ and FRANK in Korngold’s “Die Tote Stadt”, PARIS in “Roméo et Juliette” or ARCHON in Martinu’s “Greek Passion”, as well as CONTE GIL in “IL Segredo di Susanna”.

The artist works with renowned conductors and directors such as Dirk Kaftan, Domingo Hindoyan, Julien Selemkour, Roberto Villazón, Peter Konwitschny, Stefan Herheim, Bernd Mottl, Johannes Erath, Oliver Tambosi, Marco Arturo Marelli, Calixto Bieto, Damiano Michieleto, just to name a few.
The baritone studied singing at the Academy for Music and Theatre Munich and at the Theatre Academy August Everding.  In 2000 he was awarded with the first Prize at the Serbia National competition and in 2007 wan the Culture Contact Prize at the Hans-Gabor-Belvedere Competition in Vienna.

Among his recent appearances his FRITZ and FRANZ in Korngold’s „Die Tote Stadt“, PARIS in „Roméo et Juliette“ or ARCHON in Martinu’s „Greek Passion“, as well as his successful CONTE GIL in „Il segreto di Susanna“ are particularly worth mentioning.

He had guest engagements in the opera houses of Augsburg, Würzburg , at the Munich State Theatre at the Gärtnerplatz, in Basel, at the Opera Festival of St. Margarethen and the Chiemgau Music Festival. Besides, he was FIGARON in “Le Nozze di Figaro” and FILIPPO in Rossini’s “La Gazetta” in Switzerland and enjoyed success as DANILO in “Die Lustige Witwe” with the Neuchâtel Symhony Orechestra.
He enjoyed another huge success with his interpretation of Schubert’s „Winterreise“ at the Taiwan Arts Festival in Taiwan.

In 2019 he succeeded as BOBINET in “Pariser Leben” at the Bad Ischl Festival and in 2020 he portrays the CONTE in “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Freiburg Theatre.
