Since the season 20/21 Daniel Jenz has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble. Here, he can be seen in a broad range of roles including the STEERSMAN in “Der Fliegende Holländer”, a SHEPHERD in “TRistan und Isolde”, the 3rd SQUIRE in “Parsifal”, FROH in “Rheingold”, NARRABOTH in “Salome”, LEUKIPPOS in “Daphne”, JAQUINO in “Fidelio”, ANDRES in “Wozzeck”, DER KAVALIER in “Cardillac” or MR. JONES in “Animal Farm” by Alexander Raskatov.

As NUTRICE/PRIMO FAMIGLIARE in “L'incoronazione di Poppea” and as WHITE MINISTER in György Ligeti's “Le Grand Macabre” in the season 2023/24 – both world premieres at the ´Vienna State Opera under Pablo Heras-Casado- he aroused particular attention.

In summer 2024 he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival as SHEPHERD in the new production“Tristan und Isolde” and as STEERSMAN in “The Flying Dutchman for Kids. He will return to this famous festival in 2025. In autumn 2024 he debuts at the Teatro Massimo Palermo as WHITE MINISTER in Le Grand Macabre and at the City Opera Vilnius as NARRABOTH in a Gala-performance of Salome (next to Asmik Grigorian).

Guest engagements brought him to the Berlin State Opera, the opera houses of Frankfurt and Bonn, the Hamburg State Opera, the Mannheim National Theatre, the New Linz Music Theatre, to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

He portrayed TEBALDO in “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” at the Lucerne Theatre in 2023/24. In 2022 he was TOM RAKEWELL in a new production of “The Rake’s Progress” at the Mainz State Theatre. Before, Daniel Jenz was a member of the ensembles of the Hildesheim City Theatre, the Lübeck Theatre and the Kassel State Theatre. At these houses, he performed a wide repertoire including the BARON KRONTHAL im “Wildschütz”, TOM RAKEWELL in “The Rake's Progress”, FENTON in “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor”, WALTHER VON DER VOGELWEIDE in “Tannhäuser”, the DANCING MASTER in “Ariadne auf Naxos” and TAMINO in “Die Zauberflöte”. His interpretation of seven parts in the rarely played “Christophe Colomb” by Darius Milhaud at the Lübeck Theatre in 2019 met with approval nationwide.

Daniel was born in Esslingen a.N. . He studied at the academies of Graz and Mainz and was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Mainz State Theatre.

The German tenor is a Prize Winner of the National Singing Competition 2006 and was awarded the Fran-Völer-Prize for Young Talents in 2009.

Moreover, he is a scholarship holder of the Hanser-Strecker-Foundation, the Richard-Wagner-Scholarship Foundation , The Foundation of Mainz Theatre Culture and Prizewinner of the Rotary Music Competition Wiesbaden.

Daniel Jenz works with such renowned conductors and producers as Philippe Jordan, Bertrand de Billy, Franz Welser-Möst, Axel Kober, Marco Armiliato, René Jacobs, Sylvain Cambreling, Dennis Russell Davies, Alexander Soddy und Thomas Guggeis, Calixto Bieito or Kirill Serebrennikow.

Additionally to his opera appearances, the tenor sings numerous concerts including works by Bach, Händel, Dvořák, Haydn, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Monteverdi, Mozart, Rossini just to name a few.

At the 2019 Lehár-Festival Bad Ischl 2019 he portrayed MAXIME DE LA VALLÉ in the operetta “Clo-Clo” by Franz Lehár. This rediscovery of the Operetta-Boulevard was awarded by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation Classical Music with the “Frog of the Month '' and was released on CD on the occasion of Franz Léhar’s 150th anniversary. In 2024 a CD release of the recording “Parsifal” at the Vienna State Opera is planned.
