In the season 2024/2025 Juraj Holly made his successful role debuts as ROBERTO (Graf von Leicester) in Donizetti’s “Maria Stuarda” Budapest State Opera and as the CHAPLAIN ON THE MONASTERY in Poulenc’s “Les dialogues de Carmélites” at the Braunschweig State Theatre.
In 2019 he sang DON JOSÉ in a special version of “Carmen” at the Theater an der Wien/Vienna Chamber Opera.
Juraj is a regular guest at the Prague and Bratislava State Operas, as well as at the Kosice Opera, where he can be seen in such roles as CONTE ALMAVIA, DON OTTAVIO, FERRANDO, DUCA DI MANTOVA, ALFREDO, the SHEPHERD in “King Roger”, PERCY in “Anna Bolena” or the title role in ROBERTO DEVEREUX.
In July 2018 Juraj Holly made his debut as DON OTTAVIO in “Don Giovanni” at the Mannheim National Theatre. Since then, he could be seen here as the PRINCE in “The Love of the 3 Oranges”, as CASSIO in “Otello”, DANTE in” Francesca da Rimini”, ERNESTO in “Don Pasquale”, NARRABOTH in “Salome”, just to name a few.
In spring 2017 he portrayed CONTE ALMAVIVA in “Il barbiere di Siviglia” at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Opera Zuid.
From 2013 until 2018 the likeable tenor is a member of the Theatre Lübeck and Koblenz ensembles, where he succeeded in such roles as TAMINO in “Die Zauberflöte” CASSIO in “Otello” , ALMAVIVA in “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, ALFRED in “Die Fledermaus”, NARRABOTH or NEMORINO. In autumn 2016 Juraj Hollý made his Japan-debut as TAMINO in Mozar’ts “Die Zauberflöte” on a tour with the Prague National Theatre in Yokohama, Tsukuba and Morioka.
In summer 2016 Juraj Hollý enjoyed huge success as LENSKI at the Belgian Summer Opera Festival Alden Biesen.
Juraj Hollý studied singing with Gurgen Ovsepian at the Music Academy in Bratislava, where he also appeared as DON OTTAVIO. In 2010 he was awarded with the 1. Prize at the International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary as well as the Special Prize at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna. Additionally, he was finalist at the Pietro Antonio Cesti Competition in Innsbruck and he won the 1. Prize at the Mozart Competition in Prague.
After graduating he made his debut as GERNANDO in Haydn's “L’isola disabitata” at the Vienna Chamber Opera and was the ANGEL OF DEATH in J. N. Hummel's opera “Crossing the red sea”. In 2011 he appeared as BARDOLFO at the Ostrava National Opera and as PAOLO MONTI in J. Poniatowski's opera “Pierre de Medicis” at the Festival of Polish Music in Cracow. He sang the title part in Franz Liszt's DON SANCHEZ at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam at the European Heritage Awards Ceremony under the musical direction of Placido Domingo.
As a member of the International Opera Studio he performed at the Cologne Opera such parts as the PRINCE in Wolf-Ferraris’ “La Cenerentola” and the FIRST PRISONER in “Fidelio”. The young tenor has also experience with contemporary music: he sang HAROLD MITCHELL in Prévin’s “A Streetcar named Desire” and portrayed the part of COUNT APIANI at the world premiere of Marijn Simon’s “Emilia Galotti”.
As a concert soloist Juraj Hollý sang among others Mozart's Requiem in Germany, Japan and Singapur.
