In 2025, the Austrian tenor will make his debut as LAIOS in Enescu's Oedipe at the Bregenz Festival. At the Hamburg State Opera, he sings EIN OFFIZIER in Ariadne auf Naxos , a role he performs with the State Opera Munich on tour in China, too. He sang New Year's concerts in 24/25 on a tour of the USA.
Most recently, he was invited to the ABAO Opera Bilbao as GUIDO BARDI, sang concerts with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
He was engaged as a cover for Klaus Florian Vogt as SIEGFRIED alongside Camilla Nylund at the Zurich Opera House under Maestro Noseda, in the production by Andreas Homoki, after he had successfully made his debut as SIEGFRIED in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung at the Landestheater Niederbayern. He also covered SIEGFRIED in Götterdämmerung at the Helsinki National Opera.
In his repertoire Michael Heim has 50 main roles, such as Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Tamino (Zauberflöte), Belmonte (Entführung), Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Alfredo (Traviata), Fenton (Lustige Weiber von Windsor), Max (Freischütz), Narraboth (Salome), Eisenstein/Alfred (Fledermaus), Edwin (Csardasfürstin), Graf Rene (Graf von Luxemburg), Herzog (Nacht in Venedig), Adam (Vogelhändler), Graf Balduin (Wiener Blut).
Michael Heim was born in Bludenz (Vorarlberg, Austria) and grew up in the town of Thüringen (Austria), nearby. After his studies of music he worked for several years as journalist and editor in the greatest West Austrian publishing company (Voralberger Medienhaus). Whilst still a student he was invited to participate in numerous concerts at national and international festivals. His teacher include KS Irmgard Boas (Dresden), Prof. Habib Samadzadeh (Hohenems), KS Nicolai Gedda (Genf) and KS Francisco Araiza (Zürich/München).
His first roles on a stage were in 1998 at the Theatre in St. Gallen, included amongst others the First Prisoner in Fidelio. Since 1999 he has been a freelance tenor, appearing amongst others at the Operahouses of Zürich, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, Chemnitz, Vienna, Innsbruck, Luzern, Genua, Triest, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Landestheater Salzburg, Bregenzer Festspiele, Lincoln Center New York, Brucknerhaus Linz, Lehár Festival Bad Ischl, Musiktheater Schönbrunn, Beethovenhalle Bonn, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Glocke Bremen, Philharmonie Essen, Residenz München, Frauenkirche und Philharmonie Dresden, Berliner Philharmonie und Konzerthaus.
