At the Easter Festival 2023 in Salzburg, Carlos Vázquez was engaged for the first time as assistant to the musical director Andris Nelsons.
In 2024 he was re-engaged as coach and assistant of Mastro Antonio Pappano for LA GIOCONDA. Also in 2024 he was engaged as musical assistant for DON CARLO at the Royal Opera Copenhagen.
Since the season 2019/20 Carlos Vázquez has been engaged at the Hannover State Opera as director of studies with conducting commitment. His productions included MÄRCHEN IM GRAND HOTEL and THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER. He also conducted concerts and performances of HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, SWEENY TODD, IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA….
Before, he worked at the Oldenburg State Theatre as KAPELLMEISTER and DIRECTOR OF STUDIES. Here, he conducted such productions as EVITA, PINOCCHIO, SATYAGRAHA , SWEENEY TODD, LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, DIE LUSTIGE WITWE, CRISTINA- REGINA DI SVEZIA, HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, RIGOLETTO, LUCIA …
In 2016 Carlos Vázquez had the musical direction of the New Year's Concerts of the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra.
In 2017 he conducted RIGOLETTO at the Braunschweig State Theatre. In 2019 he had the musical direction of a family concert at the Komische Oper Berlin.
Besides, he was the artistic director of the Oldenburg Youth Orchestra from autumn 2015. Together with the Oldenburg State Orchestra he conducted this orchestra.
In the season 13/14 his first permanent engagement in Germany brought him as soloist coach with conducting contract and assistant of the choir director to the Opera House Bonn.
The artist obtained his musical education at the Music Conservatory Puebla with Esperanza Sánchez. He had master classes for opera repertoire with Enrique Jaso, Danielle Orlando and Tito Capobianco.
Already since 2003 Carlos Vázquez worked as chorus coach and was in charge of numerous opera productions such as : Gianni Schicchi, Rigoletto, Il Barbieri Di Siviglia, Un Ballo In Maschera, Il Tabarro, Nabucco, Fidelio, Le Nozze Di Figaro, Cavalleria Rusticana / I Pagliacci, L’italiana In Algeri, Der Schauspieldirektor and Werther. In Cosi Fan Tutte and The Turn Of The Screw he also worked as assistant conductor.
From 2004 to 2011 Carlos Vázquez was engaged at the Mexican National Opera. As an assistant conductor and chorus coach he was in charge of such productions as Cosi Fan Tutte, Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci, La Scala Di Seta, L’Occasione Fa Il Ladro. As a choral coach he studied a.o. La Fille Du Régiment, La Bohème, Carmen, La Traviata, Rusalka, Manon Lescaut, L’Elisir d’Amore, Lucia Di Lammermoor, Il Barbiere Di Siviglia, Rigoletto, La Cenerentola, La Damnation De Faust, Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung, Turandot, Orfeo E Euridice, Madama Butterfly, Romeo Et Juliette, Die Zauberflöte, Die Entführung Aus Dem Serail, Don Giovanni, Orfeo (Monteverdi), Le Dialogue Des Carmélites, Tosca, Jenufa, Eugen Onegin, Edgar, Alexander Nevsky, Tata Vasco, Unicamente La Verdad ( Ortiz), La Vida Breve and Die Fledermaus.
Moreover, in 2011 he assisted in Rossini's Stabat Mater, a production with the OFUNAM Orchestra.
The pianist attended master classes with Susan Graham , Catherine Malfitano and Renée Fleming.
The many distinguished conductors Carlos Vázquez worked with include Riccardo Frizza, Edoardo Müller, Marco Zambelli, Carlo Miguel Prieto, Christopher Franklin, Walter Attanasi, Carlos García Ruíz, Ivan Anguélov, Jan Latham König Niksa Bareza,…besides he worked with soloists like Ramón Vargas, Olga Borodina, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón, Hasmik Papian, Enkelejda Shkosa…
The young artist’s own productions include “Die Zauberflöte for children” and a symphonic concert with the UNAM (Youth Orchestra Eduardo Mata) in Mexico.
In summer 2012 and 2013 he was assistant conductor and chorus coach at the Aegean Festival in Greece and in autumn 2012 he had an engagement at the Teatro Santa Cruz in Tenerife also as assistant conductor. In the season 12/13 he was guest chorus coach at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
