In 2022 Franz Xaver Schlecht made his debut in Zimmermann’s „Weisse Rose“ at the Dresden Semper Opera
In 2018 he made his spectacular debut as PAPAGENO at the Opera House Leipzig. Since the season 2018/19 he is a permanent member of the Leipzig ensemble, singing such parts as PAPAGENO, PETER BESENBINDER, MORALES, KRUSCHINA, OTTOKAR...
At the Coburg Theatre he performed the DUKE in “Figaros Hochzeit”, DANDINI in “La Cenerentola” and HEGER in “Rusalka” in the season 2017/18.
The young baritone Franz Xaver Schlecht was already invited to sing at numerous opera houses. In the season 2015/16 he was MORALES in „Carmen“ at the Sondershausen Castle Festival and HERMANN in „ Les Contes d’Hoffmann“ and CAPPADOCIER in “Salome” at the German Opera Berlin.
At the Nordhausen Theatre he sang DON ALFONSO in „Cosi fan tutte“ and performed in the children’s opera „Prince Hugo“. He also portrayed KILIAN „Der Freischütz“ at the Erfurt Theatre.
In 2009 the artist debuted as FIGARO in a special children’s version of „Le nozze di Figaro“ at the Opera House Leipzig. At the Mainfrankentheater in Würzburg he sang SILVANO in „Un ballo in maschera“. In 2010 he portrayed VERSHININ in P.Eötvös’ „Tri Sestri“ at the Bavarian Theatre Academy and in 2011 he also played this role at the Berlin State Opera. At the Heidelberg Theatre he was PROF. WALTER SPIESS in „Der tausendjährige Posten“. Beides, he sang in „Faure Requiem“ here.
Franz Xaver Schlecht started his musical studies at the Nuremburg / Augsburg Music Academy and completed them in 2007-2008 at the University of Leipzig and in 2008-2009 at the Würzburg Music Academy. He absolved master classes with Franz Grundheber and Simon Estes.
Already in 2006 he performed at the Augsburg Theatre as HALY in “L’Italiana in Algeri”.
The young singer’s large concert repertoire includes Bach’s Passions and Masses, works from Rossini, Schubert, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini and Mahler’s Lieder and Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana”.
In the 2016/17 he returned as the MARCHESE D’OBIGNY in „La Traviata“ to the Leipzig Opera House, was PETER BESENBINDER at the Festival in Immling and BILL in “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” at the Opera House in Halle. In summer 2017, he made his debut as VALENTIN in “Faust” and sang PILATUS in the Saint John’s Passion at the Herrenchiemsee Festival.
In 2022 he can be heard at St. Michaelis in Hamburg with the MATTHÄUS-PASSION and the bass arias in the Johannes-Passion.
