The Belgian soprano Emma Posman achieved international fame in 2018 at the age of 23, as she stepped in as QUEEN OF THE NIGHT at the Große Festspielhaus of the Salzburg Festival. Her huge success was followed by invitations for this role to several opera houses, including the Komische Oper Berlin, the Hannover State Opera, Aalto Theatre Essen or the State Theatre at the Gärtnerplatz Munich. The excellent musician also appeared with equal success in two world premieres: “Les Châtiments'' at the Opéra de Dijon in the roles of GRETE and FRIDA and in the title role of FLANDRIA at the Oostende Kursaal in Belgium. She was also invited to the Teatro Solis in Uruguay as HOUSEKEEPER in Brel’s “L’homme de la Mancha”. During the COVI19 pandemic her engagements as FIRST FLOWER MAIDEN and FLORA at the Grand Théâtre de Genève were cancelled.
Last season she made her debut at the Kiel Opera as QUEEN OF THE NIGHT. She returned to La Monnaie as PRIMA NOVIZIA in Puccini’s “Trittico” as well as MASHA in “Pikovaya Dama”. At the Vlaamse Opera she shone as FIRST SOPRANO in the Opera /Ballet production with Mozart Concert Arias.

"Fairy tales, written by life itself. Albia Shagimuratova, who sings this role on all the major stages of the world, cancels her engagement shortly before the premiere. A 23 year old soprano, who was due to sing the role in the “version for children” is asked to replace her. Emma Posman was the fortunate one…from now on her name is written in my memory." |

"The young Flemish soprano Emma Posman is a shooting star, which she proved once more in this concert. For the time being, she is attending Hendrickje Van Kerckhove’s class and is a member of the MM Academy in the Brussels Opera House “La Monnaie”. Undoubtedly a great career is lying ahead of her. Her voice is spotless and has an enormous range. Also her acting talent and her empathy are beyond compare." |
