  BIOGRAPHY

"The Spanish bariton Àngel Òdena was like a huge tsunami, bothvocally and in his stage presence. He has an enormous voice, very beautiful and expressive, which always goes above the orchestra. He was, by far, the best of the evening and one of the best Nabuccos you can hear nowadays. Fantastic!"

the press wrote on the baritone’s portrayal of NABUCCO in Lisbon in 2016. The celebrated singer, whose voice changed to the dramatic repertoire in the last years, has made important debuts, collecting one success after the other: after NABUCCO, he sang RIGOLETTO at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, AMONASRO in Madrid or SCARPIA in Oviedo, becoming one of the leading contemporary Spanish voices in baritone repertoire.

With his huge, warm voice, Òdena is a versatile artist whose repertoire not only includes Italian operas, from Belcanto to Verismo, but also French works and classical titles.

Angel Òdena is also a very much sought-after Zarzuela baritone, having portrayed almost 20 roles.

His discography includes “I Pagliacci”, “Il Viaggio a Reims”, “Katiuska” or Falla’s “La vida breve” released by the label Deutsche Grammophon.

"Ángel Ódena made his debut at the Teatro Campoamor as Scarpia, a role that he will surely sing very often in the future and with which he will enjoy many successes. He is superb on stage, so charismatic that he captivated all the glances during the second act. What an artist he is!... We face a singer, whose huge talents cannot but be appreciated. His appealing, mighty voice is of huge value for this repertoire… He definitively was the highlight of the evening. His dramatic interpretation of Scarpia was wonderful, exemplary, a performance you only see among the best in the opera world. Hope he returns to Campoamo soon. "

Miami Grand Opera – Luisa Fernanda – VIDAL
The Spanish baritone Òdena completely stole the show …there is no adequate adjective to describe this man’s voice. It fills every crevice of the room with vocal resonance. Beyond that, his acting performance was equally magnetic. Where he conveyed passionate love, it was as though sunbeams radiated around his body. Where his character was defeated, it seemed a hole sunk into the stage around his feet. We had never thought we’d say this about a man in knee-high boots, but the guy was downright sexy. We would have happily sat for two hours listening to his voice alone.
