At the Dresden State Operetta Bernd Könnes compiled more then 35 parts, also works of light entertainment, which - thanks to his recitative and acting skills - he was able to refine e.g. FRITZ and PRINCE PAUL in ‚ Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein’ and his prime roles the WITCH (in Hänsel und Gretel) and BLUEBEARD (Offenbach).
In the season 14/15 the tenor has a guest performance at the Görlitz Theatre as the WITCH. As MONOSTATOS in ‘Die Zauberflöte’, ALFRED DOOLITTLE in ‘My Fair Lady’ and the BARON ZETA in ‘Die Lustigen Witwe’ he can be seen at the Theatre Neubrandenburg – Neustrelitz.
In 2011 the experienced buffo and character tenor portrayed the title role of Offenbach’s BLUEBEARD at the Dortmund Theatre. Recently, he could be seen at the Saarbrücken State Theatre as SOLOMIN in the world premiere of Gerhard Stäbler’s ‘Madame La Peste’, as FRANZ (in Hoffman’s Erzählungen) and at the Wuppertal Theatre is Schnittke’s ‘Das Leben mit einem Idioten’. In 2010 he was very successful as the POLICE INSPECTOR in Schostakowitch’s ‚The Nose’ at the Koblenz Theatre.
Under the baton of Hans Vonk, Bernd Könnes sang the MISSAIL and the 1st BOJAR (in Boris Godunow) in Enschede and Groningen. Further engagements brought him as FRITZ (in Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein) to the Munster City Theatre, as WENZEL (in The batered Bride) to the Eutin Festival, the Heidelberg Castle Festival and the Festival in Schwetzingen.
Before, Bernd Könnes had a permanent engagement at the Kaierslautern Palatine Theatre, where he sang such roles as DAVID (in Die Meistersinger zu Nürnberg), JACQUINO, PEDRILLO, DON BASILIO, STEUERMANN, MELOT, MESSAGERO, GORO, BORSA, OTTOKAR, but also the FIRST STRANGER (in Der Vetter aus Dingsda).
The artist works with such renowned conductors as Stefan Blunier, Helmuth Froschauer, Florian Ludwig, Daniel Raiskin, Constantin Trinks, Hans Vonk and producers like Adriana Altaras, John Dew, Klaus Dieter Kirst, Jasmin Solfaghari and Wolf Widder.
Recently, Bernd Könnes had guest performances at the Semperopera Dresden in Stephen Oliver’s ‘Mario and the Magician’ and at the Hagen Theatre in the German premiere of the opera ‘Dancer in the Dark’ , which the press commented:
