Mainly in France the baritone Evgueniy Alexiev has already gained a large repertoire. Guest engagements brought him among others as ESACAMILLO to Toulon, St. Etienne, Tours and the Operá de Dijon, as EUGEN ONEGIN to the Opéra du Rhin, Strasbourg and the Opéra de Lille, as RENATO, RODRIGO and FORD to the Grand Théatre de Tours, as DON GIOVANNI to the Opéra de Nice, as PELLEAS to the Opera de Nantes, as FORD in “Falstaff” to the Opéra National de Montpellier.
Moreover, he portrayed PAPAGENO in Claude Santelli’s production in Paris, MERCURIO in "The incoronazione di Poppea" in New York in the Produktion of the Opera House Amsterdam of Pierre Audi, SHAUNARD at the Opéra de Lausanne and in Luxemburg.
At the Drottningholm Festival in Schweden he performed under Christophe Rousset and Pierre Audi the role of ABRAMANE in Rameaux‘s "Zarathustra".
Evgueniy Alexiev absolved his musical studies at the Conservatory of his native town Sofia.
He won the First Prize of the Biere Opera Contest, was a finalist of the Syndical Chambre of Directors of the Lyric Theatre France and finalist at the Luciano Pavarotti International Singing Competition in Philadelphia.
First concert engagements brought him to the Opéra de Marseille, the Opera d’ Avignon and to a gala evening in Brussels (live transmission) with Paata Burchuladze and Zoran Todorovich under the musical direction of Ivan Anguélov.
At the Nuremberg State Opera he could be seen as GERMONT; at the Opera House Graz as FIGARO (Mozart) and at the Berlin State Opera as ALBERTI in "Robert le Diable" under the musical direction of Marc Minkowski. He also sang the FIGARO in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" at the Opera of Thessalonikia, the Festival in Chiemgau and the Festival de Lacoste.
In the season 12/13 Evgueniy Alexiev sang a.o. EUGEN ONEGIN at the Sofia National Opera and in “La Bohème” at the Opéra National de Montpellier.
Since the season 13/14 the baritone is a member of the ensemble of the Bielefeld Theatre where he enjoys huge successes as CREON in Cherubini’s „Medée“, SCARPIA in „Tosca“, HAMLET in Massenet’s same-named opera, WOLFRAM in “Tannhäuser”, Verdi’s MACBETH and in spring 2016 MICHELE and GIANNI SCHICCHI in “Il Tabarro”. Besides, guest performances brought him to the Coburg Municipal Theatre and the Nürnberg State Theatre.
Evgueniy Alexiev is fluent in Bulgarian, Russian, French, German, Englisch and Italian.
