Staatstheater Oldenburg – Dead Man Walking
The conductor Carlos Vázquez and the perfectly well disposed Oldenburg State Orchestra find the right balance between reticence and brash play, between atmospheric tone painting and ( en the huge ensemble scenes) great escalations.

Oldenburg State Theatre - SATYAGRAHA
The musical reproduction under the direction of Carlos Vásquez was so exciting as this music can possibly be. Once the patterns for woods, strings and organ , which are simple in harmony, rhythmic and melody yet always tonal - like the Arpeggio at the beginning followed by very simple musical scales - are created, they powerfully increase and then abate, having a maelstrom-like impact ,often contrasted by the big powerful-voiced choir score.

Staatstheater Oldenburg - Pinocchios Abenteuer
'Dove's music athmospherically sounds like film music but it extends well beyond illustrating happenings and feelings. Melody, gestures and the colourful orchestration don't interfere but they are truely profound and thoroughly delightful. Conductor Carlos Vázquez makes the orchestra's play tight and clear, with sensuous emphases.'

'... on stage just as lucent as in the orhestra pit. In his composition, Dove plays with stiles and sounds, making all senses swoosh. One can clearly recognize borrowings from Strawinsky, Britten and Adams. Carlos Vázquez confidently leads the state orchestra through the challenging score.'
