In 2023 DON LEE makes his debuts as HUNDING and FAFNER in “Der Ring der NIbelungen” at the Kassel State Theatre, where he also is PADRE GUARDIANO in “La forza del destino” and the HERMIT in “Der Freischütz.
In 2022 he already succeeded as PADRE GUARDIANO and MARCHESE DI CALATRAVA n “La forza del destino” at the Frankfurt Opera.
Before, he already performed this very role at the Dessau Theatre, where he had a permanent engagement from 2018 to 2022, performing such roles as SPARAFUCILE in “Rigoletto”, BASILIO in”Il barbiere di Siviglia”, the HERMIT in “Der Freischütz”, ZACCARIA in concerts of the opera “Nabucco”, LUCIFER in “Čert a Káča” and GERONTE in “Manon Lescaut”.
The Korean bass studied singing in Seoul and at the Stuttgart Music Conservatory.
While still studying, he already sang SARASTRO in “Die Zauberflöte” in Seoul and the part of GREMIN in “Eugin Onegin” with the Konstanz Philharmonic Orchestra at the Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart.
From 2009 to 2010 Don Lee was a member of the Opera Studio of theStuttgart State Opera.
His first engagements included DON BASILIO in “Il barbiere di Siviglia” at the Thüringen Summer Festival in Sondershausen and CECCO DEL BECCHIO in “Rienzi” at the Meiningen State Theater.
In the season 2016/17 he had guest performances at the ZETTEL in Britten’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream": "Don Lee perfectly designed the magic of Zettel, who was changed into a donkey ,which confused him thoroughly!" Der Neue Merker
In summer 2018 he sang TIMUR in “Turandot” at the Daegu Opera House in South Korea.
In 2011 Don won the Sponsorship Prize Audience Award at the International Singing Contest in Passau and became a finalist at the International Singing Contest «New Voices».
In 2016 he was a finalist at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico «Marcello Giordani» in Noto.
