the press wrote about her debut at the Opera House Graz as CIO-CIO-SAN, a role she has since then performed at the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Hamburg State Opera, the Opera House Frankfort, the State Theatres of Saarbrucken and Wiesbaden, at the Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen, the Stuttgart State Opera and many more.

In 2019 she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera and in 2020 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, both as TOSCA. At the Leipzig Opera House she was successful as MINNIE in “Fanciulla del West”, as well as TOSCA and returns here as MADAMA BUTTERFLY in 2023.

Karine is a regular guest at the Puccini-Festival Torre del Lago where she performs among others MADAMA BUTTERFLY and TOSCA. In 2022 she was TURANDOT there. In the same year she made her debut as SIEGLINDE at the Wagner-Days Budapest , LISA in “Pique Dame” at the Opéra de Toulon and at the Scala di Milano in “Le Noces” by Strawinsky.

Karine Babajanyan began her musical education with piano lessons at the age of seven and continued with singing and choir direction studies at the Erivan City Conservatory, graduating with distinction. After participating in master classes in Italy the young artist returned to her native country. Here, she got her first engagement at the Armenian National Opera.

In 1999 Karine Babajanyan put down her roots in Germany and after first engagements in Bielefeld and Hanover she became a member of the Stuttgart State Opera. Here, the versatile artist is hailed by both the press and the public for her “… warm-timbred, youthful dramatic voice…” in all the important roles of her repertoire e.g. the CONTESSA in ‘Le nozze di Figaro’, FIORDILIGI in ‘Cosi fan tutte’, MIMI in ‘La Boheme’, LEONORA in ‘Il Trovatore’, just to name a few.

Karine Babajanyan works with such famous stage directors and conductors as Willy Decker, Jossi Wieler, Peter Konwitschny, Hans Neuenfels, Philipp Himmelmann, Helmut Rilling, Lothar Zagrosek, Nicola Luisotti, Stefan Soltesz, Jonathan Nott and many others.

In 2007 the attractive soprano made her widely noticed debut as TOSCA at the Bregenz Festival, the location to the James Bond film ‚Quantum Of Solace’.

Karine Babajanyan sang at the Berlin State Opera, the Finnish National Opera Helsinki, the Royal Opera Copenhagen, the Semperoper Dresden, the Aalto Theatre in Essen, the Rhine Opera Dusseldorf/Duisburg , the Zurich Opera House, Aalto-Theatre Essen, Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, in Peking, at the Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico, the Warsaw National Opera roles like SUOR ANGELICA, RACHEL in La Juive, ARIADNE, JENUFA, TATIANA, AMELIA, ELISABETTA, MADDALENA (Andre Chenier).
Her debut at the Bavarian State Opera Munich she made as ELENA in ‚Mefistofele’.
