In spring 2020 Santiago Bürgi was on tour in the Netherlands. In more then 20 cities he shone in Philip Glass´s »The Fall of the House of Usher« in a Opera2day production called “Opera Melancholica”.
Before, he was already two summer seasons guest at the Schönbrunn Musiktheater (Vienna) where he starred in »Die Fledermaus« (J. Strauss),« Der Vogelhändler« (C. Zeller) and« Der Obersteiger« (C. Zeller ). A recording of the latter production was this released on CD by the CPO label.
In summer 2021 he sings for the first time a gala concert »Classic under the stars« with the Vogdland Philharmonic Orchestra, making his German debut.
Santiago studied at the Ac ademy of Arts of the Teatro Colón (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón), with Renato Sassola, Luis Lima, Osvaldo Peroni, Dario Schmunck and Raúl Giménez.
During the last 10 seasons the The Argentinan tenorwas engaged at the Teatro Colón, , where he performed as FENTON (Falstaff), NEMORINO (L´Elisir D´Amore) and DON OTTVIO (Don Giovanni), just to name a few.
Santiago Bürgi is considered an excellent and very versatile singing actor. His repertoire ranges from early music to the most contemporary composers. He has also performed in the most important theaters and festivals of Latin America; Argentina (Tearto Colón, Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Avenida, Teatro San Martín), Chile (Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, CorpArtes), Uruguay (Auditorio Nacional del Sodre-Montevideo), México (Festival Cervantino-Guanajuato, Teatro Juárez-Guanajuato, Conjunto de Artes EscénicasGuadalajara), Colombia (Julio Mario Santo Domingo- Bogotá, Jorge Eliécer Gaitán- Bogotá), Perú (Gran Teatro Nacional-Lima) and Miami ( XXIX Festival Internacional de Teatro Hispano) .
His most sung roles include Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Tom Rakewell (The Rake's Progress), Faust (La Damnation de Faust), Alfredo (La Traviata), Tito (La Clemenza di Tito), Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and many more.
Apart from opera music, he is also a very much sought-after inger of art songs, oratorios and popular music recitals. With his former prog-rock band “Fughu” he released three albums. Recently, he published his first album with his solo project “Santiago Burgi-Trampolín a la Nada”.
In the season 2020/21 he was engaged in Santiago de Chile to perform in »West Side Story«, »Lucia di Lammermoor« and »Macbeth«. All productions were cancelled due to the COVID19 pandemic.
In the season 2021/22 he is DON OTTAVIO in »Don Giovanni« and FENTON in »Falstaff« at the Pforzheim Theatre.
