In 2026, Karis Tucker makes her debut at the Bayreuth Festival as WALTRAUTE in “Die Walküre” and as FLOSSHILDE in “The Ring for Children”, and in 2027 she makes her debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as a FLOWER MAIDEN in “Parsifal”. She also sings the Mozart Requiem there.
Since 2019, Karis Tucker has been a member of the Ensemble at the German Opera Berlin.
Here, she made her successful debut in 2026 as EBOLI in “Don Carlo”. Besides, she can also be seen in such roles as FLOSSHILDE in “Das Rheingold”, ROSSWEISSE in “Die Walküre”, 2. NORNE in “Götterdämmerung” in Stefan Herheim’s new RING, ROSE in “Lakmé”, ADONELLA in “Francesca da Rimini”, MYRTALE in “Thaïs”, HERMIA in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, BARENA in “Jenůfa”, MERCEDES in “Carmen”, SUZUKI in “Madama Butterfly”, FENENA in “Nabucco”, HÄNSEL in “Hänsel und Gretel”, ORLOFSKY in “Die Fledermaus”, and POLINA in “Pique Dame”, just to name a few.
In 2025, she enjoyed great success as Princess CLARISSE in “The Love for Three Oranges” at the Korean National Opera and was re-engaged there for 2026 as CHARLOTTE in “Werther”. During the 2025/26 season, she also made her debut at the Dresden Philharmonic and sang Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder” with the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2024/25, she was THIRZA in “The Wreckers” at the Meiningen and Schwerin State Theatres. Before that, she had already succeeded with this very role at the Glyndebourne Festival, the BBC Proms, and with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin. She sang the Verdi Requiem with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and portrayed a FLOWER MAIDEN alongside Jonas Kaufmann at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl in 2025.
Karis works with such renowned conductors as Christian Thielemann, Donald Runnicles, John Fiore, Alexander Vedernikov, Nathalie Stutzmann, Juraj Valčuha, Ramón Tebar, and directors such as Stefan Herheim, Christof Loy, David Alden, Neil Barry Moss...
The American-Romanian singer studied at the University of Southern Mississippi and at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she received her diploma in 2019.
She joined young artist programs with the Des Moines Metro Opera in 2019, the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 2018, as well as the CCM Opera Bootcamp in 2017.
Karis is an Ohio District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. In 2020, she received a scholarship from the Friends of the German Opera Berlin. She is currently studying with Adina Nitescu.
While still studying at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she already sang such roles as THE OLD LADY in “Candide”, LA ZIA PRINCIPESSA in “Suor Angelica”, and MRS. GROSE in “The Turn of the Screw”.
Her first CARMEN she performed at the Southern Opera and Musical Theatre.
