In 2025 Elsa-Maija Helminen makes her debut in the roles of the CONFIDANT and the OVERSEER in „Elektra“ at the Finnish National Opera Helsinki under the musical direction of Hannu Lintu.
Elsa-Maija made her Master in Singing at the Malmö Music Conservatory with Britta Johansson and completed her education at the Kapellsberg Opera Studio and with Anna Larsson.
She sang her first concerts with the Malmö Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra , the Palaestra Vocal Ensemble and the Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra.
In 2024 she was awarded the renowned scholarship of the John Andersson in Anderslöv Family Foundation and the Malmö Academy of Music Soloist Prize.
Her repertoire already includes roles such as DIDO in Purcell‘s „Dido & Aeneas“, which se portrayed at the Malmö Academy of Music, 1st HOVDAM in F. Pacius‘ „Kung Karls Jakt“ , which she sang at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences or SILVIA in J. Haydn’s“ L’isola Disabitata“ at the Turku University of Applied Sciences.
She was ORTLINDE in Wagner‘s „Die Walküre“ at the Eurajoki Bel Canto – Festival.
Besides, she sang G. B. Pergolesi‘s „Stabat Mater“, D. Buxtehude‘s „Membra Jesu Nostri Palaestra“, R. Martinsson‘s „Passion of Saint Lucas“ and F. Mendelssohn‘s „Elias“.
The young soprano is a member of the Chamber Music Aava with the guitar player Fred Holmlund. Moreover, she works as a Lied Duo with the piano player Nino Chikhelidze.
