The international renowned bass singer, who regularly performs at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, scored great successes last year as SPARAFUCILE and BASILIO at the Vienna Popular Opera, as COUNT WALDNER and COMMENDATORE at the Aachen Theatre and in Detlev Glanert’s CALIGULA at the Opera House Frankfurt.

Marek Gasztecki sang KING MARKE in Peking on the Chinese first performance of ‚Tristan und Isolde’. He had guest appearances in Busoni’s ‘Doktor Faust’ at the Salzburg Festival, as ROCCO at the Opera Festival in Heidenheim and as DALAND at the Detroit Opera House.

The artist attracted great attention in Japan with his interpretation of KING LEAR in the world premiere of Toshio Hosokawa’s ‘The Vision of Lear’.

Furthermore, his international career brought Marek Gasztecki to the Scala di Milano, the Opéra Bastille and the opera houses of Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, Hamburg and Stuttgart, where he worked with such renowned producers as Willy Decker, Peter Mussbach, Johannes Schaaf, Peter Stein and conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Myung Whun Chung, Sir Colin Davis, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Hartmut Hänchen, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, John Mauceri, Kent Nagano, Antonio Pappano and Kirill Petrenko.

The bass singer is also a very much sought-after concert soloist. He regularly performs with the Orchestra di Accademia Santa Cecilia, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nacional Orquesta Sinfonica d`Espana, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Maggio Musicale Fiorentino ant the Osaka Symphony Orchestra.

Due to his extraordinary interpretation of opera parts like KASPAR, LEPORELLO, EREMITE, CUNO, 2. APPRENTICE and BROGNI (in Halevys The Jewess) in his first two permanent engagements at the state theatres of Darmstadt and Nuremburg the artist was honoured in 1994 as Best Upcoming Artist of the Year by the German opera magazine ‘Opernwelt’. Moreover, he was prize winner at the International Singing Competition in Toulouse.

Meanwhile, the repertoire of the bass-baritone includes a wide range of about 80 opera parts and 35 concert parts from classic to modern.

In the season 2012/2013 Marek Gasztecki made his debut at theTeatr Wielki Warsaw and the Polnish National Opera. He makes his debut as PADRE GUARDIANO in ‚La Forza del Destino’ at the beginning of the season 13/14 at the Innsbruck Municipal Theatre.
