Daniel FRANK Tenor


In 2013 Daniel Frank made his much acclaimed debut as TANNHÄUSER at the Rhine Opera Düsseldorf-Duisburg under the musical direction of Axel Kober. In the following, he sang this part at the Bogota Opera House with Gustavo Dudamel, at the Prague State Opera, at the Royal Opera House Stockholm and the Bern Theatre ( 2017).

Other successful debuts followed including LACA in ‘Jenufa’ at the Kiel Theatre, PETER GRIMES at Bern Opera House and FLORESTAN in ‘Fidelio’ at the Wermland Opera in Karlstad. In 2015 Daniel Frank made his debut as RADAMES in ‘Aida’ under the musical direction of Leif Segerstam at the Malmö Opera House and the press wrote: "Frank as Radames is a bit of a dream for the role“ .

Before starting his career in the opera world, Daniel was 10 years long a rock singer. Besides, he worked as vocal coach and music and drama teacher. In 2009 he made his opera debut as JOHN SOREL in Menotti’s ‘The Consul’ at the Folkoperan in Stockholm. In spring 2010 he sang SEVERIN in Kurt Weill’s ‘Silver Lake’ and started a solid and successful tenor career. Further engagements brought him as PETER QUINT in Britten’s ‘The Turn of the Screw’ to Läckö Castle and as LACA in ‘Jenufa’ to the Malmö Opera. In spring 2012, he sang his first DON JOSÉ in ‘Carmen’ at the Norrlands Operan. In 2013, he was TAMINO again at the Oper in Malmö, thrilling the Scandinavian opera world with his rich and powerful voice and his charismatic acting skills.

In 2012 Daniel Frank was awarded the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship. In 2014 he won both the Opera Soloist's Set Svanholm scholarship and (Swedish) the OPERA Magazine's Opera Award.

In summer 2015 Daniel Frank covered Jonas Kaufmann in ‘Fidelio’ at the Salzburg Festival. Recently, he succeeded as PAUL in Korngold’s ‘Tote Stadt’ at the Wermland Opera and as LOHENGRIN at the Bern Theatre.
In the season 2017/2018 he makes his debut as SIEGFRIED in ‘Götterdämmerung’ at the Karlsruhe Opera House. He performs SIEGMUND at the Rhine Opera Düsseldorf-Duisburg and BACCHUS in ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’ at the Gothenburg Opera House.

Her swedish saviour Lohengrin's (alias Daniel Frank) play and appearance wasn't conceived as a brilliant hero but as a contrarian outsider. Vocally he convinced most of all with the Narration of the Holy Grail, which he started piano, steadily increasing up to the heroic point of culmination.
