Soubrette/ coloratura-soprano


From the season 2019/20 the soprano is a memble of the Semperoper Dresden ensemble.

In 2017 Katharina made her successful debut as ADELE in »Die Fledermaus« and OTTILIE in »Zum Weissen Rössl« t the Dresden State Operetta. From 2014 to 2016 Katerina von Bennigsen was a permanent member of the Cottbus State Theatre, where she sang a.o ÄNNCHEN, BLONDE, QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, FRASQUITA, OTTILIE in »Wie einst im Mai«, the PRINCESS in »Sechse kommen durch die Welt«, the FIFTH VIRGIN in »Elektra« and TEBALDO and UNA VOCE DAL CIELO in »Don Carlos. Previously, the young artist enjoyed great succeses in the concert series „Wiener Melange“ at the Gera Theatre and at the Altenburg Municipal Theatre. Furthermore, Katerina's repertoire includes such roles as EURIDICE in Gluck's »Orfeo ed Euridice«, MARZELLINE in »Fidelio«, SOPHIE in »Werther« and LISA in »Gräfin Mariza« .

2018 the young soprano made her succesful debut as SCINTILLA in Maderna's opera Satyricon at the Osterfestspiele Salzburg, Teatro Comunale di Modena and at the Semperoper in Dresden, where she had previously already appeared in Moses und Aaron as 1st SOLOIST VOICE. The season before she also obtained a great triumph with her interpretations of ADELE in „Die Fledermaus„ and as OTILIE in »Im Weissen Rössl« at the Dresden State Operetta.

Katerina was born in Minsk (White Russia) and raised in Hamburg.While still going to school, she already studied singing at the Lubeck Music Academy.

After finishing High School, she started studying at the Hamburg Academy for Music and Art. Here, she was teached singing by Hanna Schwarz and Burkhard Kehring. Presently, Katerina is completing her singing studies with Carolyn Grace James fort. Master classes brought her a.o.to Margreet Honig, Montserrat Caballé, Edda Moser, Helen Donath, Regina Dittrich-Werner, Gemma Visser and Axel Bauni.

Katerina von Bennigsen repeatedly wan the Contest Jugend Musiziert« (singing and piano) and she is a scholarshpholder of the „Yehudin Menuhin" Facilitation. Moreover, she is a prize winner and finalist in numerous international singing contests such as the International Singing Contest „Young Voices “ in Tallinn (1st Prize for Best Interpretation), „Bundeswettbewerb“ in Berlin, „Ferruccio Tagliavini“ in Deutschlandsberg, „Mario Lanza“ in Filignano (Spezial Prize), „Alfredo Giacomotti“ in Stradella and „Benvenuto Franci“ in Pienza.

While still studying, the artist had guest appearances in several opera productions e.g. at the Hamburg State Opera as BUBIKOPF in »Der Kaiser von Atlantis« , as NOBLE DAME in Rameaux' »Les Indes Galantes«, at the Hamburg Chamber Opera as QUEEN OF THE NIGHT and as ADELE, at the Kulturwerk am See Norderstedt as SIVENI in Gluck's »Les Cinesi« and as OTTILIE in »Im Weißen Rössl« and at the Kulturfabrik Kampnagel as the PRINCESS OF GRANADA in Offenbach's »The Bandits«.

In 2017 the artist had guest performances as LUISA in the world premiere of Johanna Doderer's opera „Liliom„ at the Gartnerplatz State Theatre. She also portrayed the title part in a concert performance of gloria Bruni's PINOCCHIO at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.

In winter 2016/17 the versatile singer could be also heard in a seriers of New Year Concerts with the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra. In the season 2017/18 she enjoyed great success as JEMMY in „Guillaume Tell „ and FIAKERMILLI in „Arabella „ at the Kiel Theatre.

Recently, she sang at the Dresden Semper Opera and portrayed SCINTILLA in Bruno Maderna's opera »Satyricon« and the 1st SOLOIST VOICE in »Moses and Aron«. She was KLÄRCHEN in »Zum weissen Rössl » at the Cologne Opera House and returned as JANNA in »Sweeny Todd« to the Opera Kiel.

In summer 2018 she succeeded as LISA in »Gräfin Maritza« at the Mörbisch Lake Festival. She returned here in summer 2019 as MI in »Das Land des Lächelns«.
